Earnest G. Hook, 79, of Rock Island, died Sunday, January 30, 2011 at Trinity, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, February 4, 2011 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601-38 Ave., Moline. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the family.
Earnest was born June 19, 1931 in Manchester, Iowa, the son of James and Minnie Hammerand Hook. He married Joyce J. Bailey on February 14, 1954 in East Moline. She preceded him in death on September 16, 2010 in Rock Island.
Earnest was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict, where he received the Commendation Ribbon for meritorious service. He had previously owned E & J Stop and Shop. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his grandchildren and yard sales.
