Edna Mae Carlson, 102, of Silvis, IL, died Thursday, May 08, 2014, at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis, IL.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at Riverside Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church in East Moline. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Edna was born on May 11, 1911, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Mons and Dora Wilhelmina (Odell) Nelson. She married Oliver William Oke Carlson on October 29, 1943, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in East Moline and he preceded her in death in 1985. Before she married, Edna was a secretary and in her younger years, she was involved in Civil Air Patrol at Moline Airport.
Edna was a member of ACC Swedish Eastern Star Rose Chapter 626 in Silvis, IL. Edna loved the color blue, Whitey's strawberry ice cream, dancing, and cardinal birds. She had an outgoing personality and continued driving until she was 92. Edna was a survivor who had amazing strength and sacrificed for her children's education to move forward.
