Edward L. Gritton, 74, of Lynn Center, IL, died Wednesday, October 01, 2014, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, October 13, 2014, at Augustana Lutheran Church, 628 6th Street, Andover, IL. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, October 12, 2014, at the church. Per his wishes, cremation rights have been accorded and inurnment will be at Western Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Amputee Coalition of America, Juvenile Diabetes, or to Augustana Lutheran Church.
Edward was born on May 19, 1940, in Millersburg, IL, the son of Bert and Dora Adams Gritton. He married Jan Bothamly on July 3, 1965, at Zion Lutheran Church in Hampton, IL. Edward worked for J.L. Brady through Local 25 beginning as a laborer and working his way up to a journeyman pipefitter. He was also a third generation farmer.
Ed belonged to the Henry County Pork Producers. He was valedictorian at Orion High School, class of 1958. He was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church. Ed was a hardworking man who loved being outdoors. He enjoyed reading, playing cards and was an avid San Francisco Giants and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. Ed was a dedicated, loving, and supportive husband, father, grandfather and friend.
