Edward C. Thune

Edward C. Thune, 77, of Colona, IL, died Saturday, December 23, 2017, at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA.

A funeral service will be 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 28, 2017, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Ave, Moline.  Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.  There will be a graveside service 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Edgington Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by Moline American Legion Post #246.  Memorials may be made to the family.

Ed was born on June 25, 1940 in San Francisco, CA, the son of Edward Thune and Dorothy Sorensen. He married Lorraine Conci in 1962. He married Pauline A. Brubaker on February 14, 1988, in Santa Rosa, CA.

Ed was in law enforcement for 45 years, beginning his career as a Sergeant for San Bruno, Police Department CA, and then by Marin Sheriff’s office in San Rafael, CA for 15 years as a dispatcher, retiring in 2010.  Ed was an Army veteran having served in both Korea and Vietnam in the special forces.  Ed was an avid San Francisco 49er’s and Chicago White Sox fan; he was also a lover of animals and bird watching. He was a member at St. Patrick’s Church in Colona. Most of all he loved his family, especially his 7 sons.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline Thune, Colona, IL; sons, Tony (Debra) Thune, LaPine, OR, Louis (Dena) Thune, LaPine, OR, Michael (Wendy) Thune, Vancouver, WA, Dennis (Marly) Osborne, Erie, IL, Larry Osborne, Rock Island, IL, Tony (Tara) Osborne, Matherville, IL, Christopher (Tara) Osborne, Colorado Springs, CO; sisters Doris Tucker and Janice Brignoli, CA; brother in law, Bobby (Lynne) Brubaker, Toledo, OH; sister in law, Amy Brubaker, Huntington Beach, CA; 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.  Numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers in law, Wayne Brubaker, Ken Brubaker and Tom Brignoli.
