Edwin Wayne Maitlen, 89, of Moline, moved to heaven, Saturday, January 21, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Visitation will be from noon until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Walk World Outreach Center, Silvis.
Edwin was born on March 19, 1933, in Moline, the son of Earnest and Grace (Dencker) Maitlen. He graduated from United Township High School and was a U.S. Veteran, having served in the Army from 1953-1955 in the Korean War. He married Patricia Edith Hillyer on October 13, 1951, in Rock Island. Edwin was previously employed at Ametek and Case IH, retiring after a combined 43 years. He was a member of the former Moline Gospel Temple.
In his younger years, Edwin enjoyed running, camping, and playing Zelda on the original Nintendo and even beat the game. He also liked to research his family genealogy.
Survivors include his wife, Pat; children, Alan (Diane) Maitlen, Moline, Kerry (Tricia) Maitlen, Moline, Pamela (Michael) Hofstetter, Hampton, Faith Kruger, Geneseo, Timothy Maitlen, Moline; 18 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; brother, Gene (Geri) Maitlen, Davenport; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lester, Robert; sisters, Betty, Dorthy, Alvira, Doris; son-in-law, Kurtis Kruger; daughter-in-law, Evelyn Maitlen; great grandchildren, Asher and Elsie.
