Elaine M. Brown, 91, of Coal Valley and formerly of Orion, IL, died Thursday, February 19, 2015, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 27, 2015, at Mary, Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 1402 10th Street, Orion. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2015, at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., 1301 4th Street, Orion. Burial will be at Western Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Mary, Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church or to the MS Society.
Elaine was born on February 2, 1924, in Jasper, MN, the daughter of Fredrick and Florence DeToy DeBlieck. She married Gerald Jasper Brown on May 25, 1946, at St. Anne's Catholic Church in East Moline, IL, and he preceded her in death on November 29, 2002. She worked as a credit manager for St. Anthony's and later for Franciscan Hospital until 1987. Prior to having children, she worked in the office at I.H. in East Moline.
Elaine was a member of Mary, Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Colona, IL. While her children were young she was a stay at home mom and a Girl Scout leader. She was also the former president of the National Credit Women's Association. Elaine enjoyed crocheting hats for newborns at Trinity.
