Elwood "Gus" L. Gustafson, 87, of Moline, IL, died Tuesday, December 8, 2015, at the Mayo Clinic Hospital - Saint Mary's Campus, Rochester, MN.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, December 14, 2015, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, IL. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, December 13, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Mayo Clinic, Department of Development, 200 First Street SW, Rochester, MN, 55905.
Elwood was born on April 17, 1928, in Little Falls, MN, the son of Carl and Irene Ackerberg Gustafson. He married Jackie Fairchild on July 30, 1949, in Davenport, IA, and she preceded him in death in February of 2012. He was the president of East Moline Metal as well as a partner of D&G Real Estate.
Elwood was a proud student of the Bible. He loved to study and read the Bible. Also, he enjoyed teaching the Bible to others.
Survivors include his sons, Kyron (Kristine) Gustafson, Moline, IL, and Timothy Gustafson, East Moline, IL; daughter, Marla (James) Patterson, TN; grandchildren, Jessica, Paul, and Katrina; great granddaughter, Malia; sister, Beatrice Meyer, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and beloved dog, Billy Boy.
