Emily Teichman, 35, passed away on July 27, 2026, in Iowa City, Iowa. She was born on August 15, 1990, in Silvis, Illinois.

Emily was a free spirit with a creative heart and a kind soul. She found joy in the simple things that made life beautiful – creating crafts, drawing, painting, writing stories, and expressing herself through art. Music was always close to her heart, especially bluegrass, though she appreciated all genres and could often be found dancing, singing along, or sharing favorite songs with those she loved. She treasured spending time with friends, laughing over inside jokes, and making memories that would last a lifetime. Emily also had a deep love for animals and cherished every pet that became part of her life.

Above all else, Emily's greatest love was her son, Alex Mayo. Being his mother was the most important part of her life, and she loved him with all her heart. Alex brought her immense pride, joy, and purpose, and her love for him was unwavering. That bond will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew them.

Emily was preceded in death by her grandparents, William and Barbara Teichman; her uncle, Curtis Teichman; and her aunt, Linda Teichman.

She is lovingly remembered by her son, Alex Mayo; her mother, Kathleen Teichman; her uncle, Dennis Teichman; and her cousins: Amanda and Ron Stablein; Jessica Teichman (Emersyn); Dwayne and Renee Teichman (Theodore); Melissa and Ryan Sweeney (Abigail, Garrett, and Wyatt); Derek and Nikki Teichman (Iris, Hadley, Bennett, and Lincoln); and Victoria and Stephen Meyers (Everett and Reese). She also leaves behind many friends whose lives were brighter because of her laughter, creativity, and friendship.

Emily will be remembered for her imagination, her warm heart, her love of music and art, and the joy she found in bringing people together. Though her time here was far too short, the memories she created and the love she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A celebration of Emily's life will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00pm at the Green Rock/Colona American Legion in Colona, Illinois. Casual attire is welcome.
