Ernest G. Farrier

Ernest G. Farrier, 90, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, passed away Friday June 23, 2023, at his home.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday July 5, 2023, at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend should meet at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, at 10:15 a.m. for the procession to the cemetery.

Ernest was born on January 15, 1933, in Washington, Iowa, the son of I.V. and Emily (Alter) Farrier. He was a U.S. Veteran having served in the Air Force. Ernest had a strong work ethic and was a development engineer previously employed at Union Carbide. He was awarded patents for several materials, including one making jet engines more efficient.

Survivors include his son, David Farrier; sister, Dessie Kleinhammer; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Viola, Dell and Clifford.
