At 11:34 am on Sunday, January 16th, 2022, Estella Aguilar, the guiding light of lives, transitioned to the afterlife. No words can describe the strength of this women. Even the word Warrior would be an understatement. Life for those left without her physical presence will never be the same. Estella never pretended and always walked her truth. She protected those she loved deeply. Estella made the best meals out of the simplest ingredients including tortillas de harina. She worked hard and was simply the best poker player hands down even though Pedro Jr does not agree with this statement it will continue to be shared for generations to come.
Estella was born in San Antonio, Texas on February 22, 1955. In the 1970’s, she moved to and lived her life in Muscatine, IA. Estella may not have obtained a formal education, but she was the smartest women we knew, and no one ever took advantage of her. She raised six children Esperanza Aguilar (1969 - 2017), Elizabeth Del Rio, Elida Perales, Elena Bobay, Pedro Perales Jr, and Romeo Quintero Jr. She loved her grandchildren more than life itself: Richard, Ani, Joaquin, Viva, Emilio, Max, Stelita, Sofia, Elle, Abe, Luke, MJ, Vinny, and Dre. She was so happy to see Ani become a mother to Amaree and Junior. Even with her heart filled with love for her children, grand-children, and great grandchildren she still had love for Gerardo, Mike, and Joanne her son and daughter in-laws with a very special shout out to Harvey.
Estella worked for many years in a variety of roles, but she always valued her role as a caregiver and supporter for her children. She imprinted her motherly love on the many children she would babysit throughout her years. She loved drinking green iced tea and chai latte’s with Elizabeth. Enjoyed breakfasts, lunches, and dinners with Elida or simply watching a movie together. Elena and mom played cards, went to Bingo, and shopped often. Pedro and Romeo brought Estella so much love with their cookouts and special outings together with their families. Even in her pain she always held her loved ones when they cried, laughed, and never let them forget who they came from. Her humor was gold and her soul reflected her physical beauty.
No services will be held to celebrate the love and life of Estella. Her children per Estella’s wishes had her cremated at Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory in Moline, IL.
