Eugene T. ""Gene"" Diederich

Eugene "Gene" T. Diederich, age 88, of Carbon Cliff, died Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis.

Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 800-17th Street, Silvis. Visitation is from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Burial of cremains will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal with military honors conducted by East Moline American Legion Post #227. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association and the East Moline V.F.W. Post #2056.

Gene was born December 14, 1924 in St. Bernard, NE, the son of Joseph and Helen (Kurtenbach) Diederich. He married Annette Mitton on April 30, 1949 in East Moline.

Gene was employed as an electrician with Case IH for 38 ½ years, retiring in 1987. He was a WW II Army veteran. Gene was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, East Moline American Legion Post #227, the East End Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1839, Carbon Cliff, Silvis Optimist Club and the V.F.W. Post # 2056.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Evelyn, Adeline, Luella, and brothers, Elmer, Edwin, Clarence, Roman, Harold, Kenny and Cyril.
