Frances Rose "Nanny" DeBord

Frances "Nanny" Rose DeBord, 68, of Rock Island, died Friday, October 17, 2014, at home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 23, 2014 at First United Presbyterian Church, 801 16th St, Moline, IL, 61265. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Ltd., 6601-38th Avenue, Moline, IL. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Fran was born on July 19, 1946 in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of Robert and Eleanor Sharer Shipp. She attended Moline schools, graduating in 1964. She met and married the love of her life, Thomas G. DeBord in July of 1966.Tom and Fran began their family in 1969 with the addition of daughter, Tabitha G. Green and followed with daughter Kristina M Hein.Both daughters attended Moline schools and are graduates of MHS. Kristina is a graduate of Augustana in Rock Island. Kristina is a graduate of Black Hawk Community College, Moline. Tom and Fran were married 38 1/2 years until he preceded her in death on January 2, 2004. Fran was a member of First United Presbyterian Church in Moline, where she served on the Congregation Care Committee, was a Deacon, a nursery volunteer, and a Thursday morning community breakfast volunteer. She also attended the WOW Bible studies and was a Berean member. As her girls were growing up, Fran worked in her home caring for many children and hosted several foster children. They also hosted a Rotary Exchange student from Zimbabwe and later Fran became a Nanny for a QCA family and remained in very close relationshp since then with Mark (25), Jacqueline (23) (Kevin Dolan) and Katherine (21). The parents are Mike and Darlene Steffen, Moline.

She and Tom relocated to Libertyville, IL in February 1998 through May 2001, when they moved back to the QCA, living in East Moline until Tom's death, at which time Fran had been Nanny to a second QCA family, caring for her beloved, very special Rowan. Laurel, the very young sister, will soon become a second grade student. Parents are Bryan and Colleen Sibthorp. Rowan died at age 8 in January 2009.
