Francis William "Bill" Smith, II, 72, of Moline, IL, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at home.
Per his wishes, a private graveside service was conducted by Rev. Bill Coley and held on Friday, June 13, 2014, at National Cemetery at Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to his family for a fund to be established. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Bill was born on May 29, 1942, in Oklahoma City, OK, the son of Francis W. and Wanda (McLean) Smith, Sr. He married Linda L. Dempsey on June 30, 1962, in Moline. He proudly served the United States Army as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborn. Bill retired from Teamster Local 371 and later worked for the D.O.T. He was a union steward and an officer.
Bill was a very talented artist.
