Frank E. Martin, 84, formerly of Colona, IL, passed away, May 27, 2024, at the Kahl Home, Davenport. 

 

Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on June 6, 2024, at Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Ltd., Moline. At 1:30 p.m. everyone will gather in their vehicles and process to the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery for graveside services at 2:00 p.m. Military honors will be conducted.  Memorials may be made to the family, to go towards Frank’s funeral expenses.   

 

Frank was born on May 31, 1939, in Moline, IL, to his parents Benjamin Martin Jr and Margret Martin of Rock Island. He married Mary Cole on April 13, 1963, and she preceded him in death on March 12, 1984. Frank was a veteran, having served in the United States Army. He was employed by Bostitch for 32 years. Frank loved the outdoors where he would spend much of his time in his garden, bowling, and spending time with his family.  

 

Survivors include his children Jacob Rewerts-Martin, Adie Rewerts, and adopted son Troy Martin; stepchildren Jack Cole, Cecil (Donna) Cole, Janelle Cole-Sohoski, and Patti Picard; sisters Joan (Robert) Craig, Georgia (Darrell) Cramer; nephew Charles Martin Jr; great-niece Danielle (Jason) Moody, Dawn Hay, and he was also very close to both of their children; great-nephew Aaron Martin; grandchildren Todd and Tyler Cole; as well as many other grandchildren, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-grandchildren. 

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Martin; son, Donnie Martin; brother Charles Martin Sr, sisters Delores “Dolly” Martin, Luanne (Gerald) Coon, Ida (William) Lear; niece and best friend, Margaret “Vonnie” Lindstrom, and grandson Cecil Cole III.
