Gail Ann Anderson

Gail Ann Anderson, 86, of Sherrard, IL, passed away, February 3, 2026, at her home.

Private family inurnment will take place at Swedona Lutheran Cemetery at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded. Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Ltd., Orion are assisting the family.

Gail was born on April 25, 1939, the daughter of Samuel and Edna (Jones) Petersen. She married William Carroll Anderson in Moline, IL on July 20, 1957. Gail worked for Jaydon Distributing Co in Milan for 18 years and later as a Nursing Home Supervisor in Rock Island for 5 years. She was a member of the Swedona Lutheran Church and was a Sunday school teacher there. Gail was also a council member of the church and was in the church’s quilting club.

Survivors include her husband, William; children, Jeffery (Teresa) Anderson of Swedona, IL, Julie Ann (Kenneth) Spilker of Milan, IL, Nancy Purchase, and Suzanne Kilcoin of Oquawka, IL; grandchildren, Amanda (Brian) Byers of Roseville, IL, Mike (Lorena) Anderson of Swedona, IL, McKenzie (Luke) McPherren of Huntsville, AL, and Abigail Purchase of Oquawka, IL; great-grandchildren, Mikayla Morrissey, Chase Byers, Jacob Byers, Lucas Byers, Addyson Anderson, Jaxson Anderson; brother, Sam Petersen of Andalusia, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Mary Jane, and brother, Tom Petersen.
