Gary L. Dunn, 77, of Moline, IL, formerly of Trenton, MO, died Sunday, May 17, 2015, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2015, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial will be at National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal where military honors will be conducted. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Diabetes Association.

Gary was born on March 27, 1938, in West Liberty, IA, the son of Mardis N. and Catharine N. Hughes Dunn. He married Orenda Trumbo on January 31, 1959, in Princeton, MO. He worked as an assembler for John Deere, retiring in 1998, and attended Homewood Church.

Gary was a veteran, having proudly served the United States Navy. While in the Navy, he was a Sonarman SO3 on Destroyer DL4 USS Willis A. Lee. He was later involved with DLA Destroyer Leader Association.

Gary loved fishing and hunting and was a member of Duck's Unlimited. He was a life-long Cardinal fan and in his younger years, he was a coach for Dad's Club baseball.

Gary and his wife wintered the last 15 years at Snow to Sun R.V. Resort in Weslaco, TX.
