George Peter “Pete” Juhl, 88, passed away October 10, 2025, at Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. (EST) on Saturday October 18, 2025, at the Wolf Creek Cemetery, near Wallace, Indiana. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline is assisting the family.
Pete was born on May 23, 1937, at home in Joy, Illinois, the son of Peter H. and Florence May (Hand) Juhl of Soruphotz, Schleswig-Flensburg, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany and New Boston, Mercer County, Illinois. He married Molly M. Brown King on February 3, 1968, and she preceded him in death. He later married Sandra Lee Elkins Juhl on March 22, 1980, in Moline. He attended school in Joy and after high school graduation he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, from 1957-1961. He had worked at the Aledo Cheese Company and Swiss Valley Dairy. He retired early at the age of 57 as a semi-truck driver with Swiss Valley and was also a member of Teamsters.
George loved baseball, football, and basketball. He followed all of the pro sport teams throughout his life.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy; stepchildren, James W. King, Carol F. King, Michael (Jozett) Dean McCoy, James Dennis McCoy, Robert Gene Wethington.
He was preceded in death by his stepchildren, John David McCoy and Willian (Penny) Earl Wethington; siblings, Evalina Evelyn Juhl, Lewis Edward Jacobs, Pauline Revella Jacobs, Matthew Jacobs, Wilbur Leland Jacobs, Samuel Emanuel Jacobs, Charles Dwane Jacobs, Nellie Bly Jacobs, Charles Franklin Jacobs, and Netha Jacobs.
