Gerald F. Fox, 71, of Rock Island, died Saturday, July 1, 2017, at Manor Care, Davenport, Iowa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 7, 2017, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 2401-31 Ave. Rock Island. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, July 6, 2017, at the Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Ltd., 6601-38 Ave. Moline, with a Rosary at 4 p.m. Burial will be at the National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal with Military Honors being conducted by the Vietnam Veterans of America-Quad Cities Chapter 299, of which Jerry was an active member. Memorials may be made to St. Pius X Food Pantry, where Jerry was a volunteer.
Jerry was born on August 29, 1945, in Algona, Iowa, the son of Wilbur and Anna Rustemier Fox. He married Rosellen B. Moseley, June 13, 1970, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan.
Jerry retired from John Deere Harvester, East Moline, in 2009 as an assembler, after 32 years. Jerry was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus serving as a Fourth Degree. Jerry was an Army Veteran in the Vietnam War, serving from1966-1969, and later served with the Illinois Army National Guard.
Jerry’s survivors include, his wife, Rose; son and daughter-in-law, Alex (Heather) Fox, Omaha, NE, daughter, Jennifer Fox, Fountain, CO; grandchildren, Allie Fox, Fountain, CO, Tyler McDanel, Fort Drum, NY, Makenzie Fox and Ethan Fox both of Omaha, NE; brothers and their spouses, Dave (Jean) Fox, Webster City, IA, Joe (Cathy) Fox, Blue Earth, MN, Jerry’s twin brother, Larry Fox, Cottage Grove, MN, Pat (Rita) Fox, Orland Park, IL, and Mike (Mary Jo) Fox, Olathe, KS; sisters and their spouses, Joan (Jerry) Harper, Brooklyn Park, MN, Mary (Art) Patterson, Emily, MN, and Kate Buff, Cleveland, OK; sisters-in-law, Claire Fox, Northfield, MN, Betty Fox, Bancroft, IA, and Kate Fox, Snellville, GA; and many nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John, Jim, Bill, Bernie, Dick, Roger, and Gene; brother-in-law, Roy Buff, and, sister-in-law, Judy Fox.
