Glen Bote, Milan passed away Friday June 8th at his home surrounded by loved ones.

A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline.  Visitation will be 12:00 – 2:00.  Inurnment will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Estate.  Military honors will be conducted by the Moline American Legion Post #246.  Memorials may be made to the Police Benevolent Association in Rock Island or to St. Jude’s Midwest affiliate.

Glen was born October 12th, 1936, in Harper, Iowa to Newell Bote and Alberta (Eldridge) Bote. He enlisted in the Airforce in 1953 serving his country for 8 years. Glen graduated from the FBI National Academy in 1979.

Following his discharge from military service he joined the Rock Island Police Department serving the city for 23 years. Retiring in 1983 as Captain and Director of Operations. In 1974 he married Judy Avery Bote, they were blessed with 2 children. Cami Ill (Jason) and Cory Bote as well as 3 beautiful granddaughters who affectionately called him “Papa” whom he adored. Glen also had 3 children from a previous marriage who he loved dearly.  Following retirement from RIPD he worked as Area Security Manager of Tyson for 18 years. Retiring in 2003. He loved bowling and was a lifelong Cardinals Fan. Glen enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He coached baseball, never missing a sporting event or dance recital.

Glen is survived by his wife of 49 ½ years; his 5 children, Glen Bote Jr, Kathy Scarberry, Garth Bote, Cami Ill (Jason), and Cory Bote; 3 granddaughters, Emma Ill, Molly Ill and Vivienne Bote; sisters, Nancy Westbo and Kelly Rylander (Steve); extended family, Diana and Dick Morris and Donna Boggs. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and brother.

He will be missed until we see him again.
