Grace I. Nelson, 90, formerly of Moline, IL, died Monday, November 23, 2015, at Rosewood Care Center of Moline, Moline, IL.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 28, 2015, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and inurnment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Geneseo at a later date. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church in Moline or to the American Cancer Society.
Grace was born on November 3, 1925, in Rochelle, IL, the daughter of Herman and Verdie Morrison Lieving. She married Harold Nelson on November 23, 1950, in Orion, and he preceded her in death on September 14, 1992.
Grace worked as an executive assistant for International Harvester Farmall for 30 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of First Christian Church in Moline and also a member of Christian Women Fellowship Group.
Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl (Gary) Hord, Shawnee, KS; grandson, Gary (Ashley) Hord, Overland Park, KS; great granddaughters, Sophia Hord and Anna Hord; brothers, Wayne (Peggy) Lieving, Milan, IL, and Herman Lieving, Jr., Rock Island, IL; sisters, Doris Lindquist, Andover, IL, Phyllis Johnson, Davenport, IA; brother-in-law, Jerry Malmen, Orion, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Malvern Lieving; sister, Evelyn Malmen.
