Graciela "Gracie" Guzman, 71, of Moline, IL, died Monday, December 01, 2014, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City, IA, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, December 5, 2014, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3207 60th Street, Moline. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 4, 2014, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Per her wishes cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
Gracie was born on February 7, 1943, in Yurina, Gto, Mexico, the daughter of Donaciano Salazar and Isabel Paniagua de Salazar. She married Rafael J. Guzman in a civil service on August 19, 1962, and in a religious ceremony on August 18, 1963. She always celebrated both.
She worked as a banquet server for the Holiday Inn in Rock Island for 40 years. Gracie was the best cook. She was extremely funny and had a bad aim with chanclas. Above all, Gracie was a devoted wife, loving mother, and awesome nana.
