Gregory "Greg" T. Owens, 58, of Orion, IL, died Monday, November 30, 2015, at home with his daughter at his side.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 4, 2015, at Mary, Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 1402 10th Street, Orion. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. with a Rosary at 3:45 p.m. Thursday, December 3, 2015, at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., 1301 4th Street, Orion. Burial will be at Western Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Greg was born on November 26, 1957, in Rock Island, IL, the son of Willard J. and Nancy L. Strayer Owens. He was a member of Laborers Local 309 and last worked for McCarthy Improvement Co., retiring in November of 2000.
Greg enjoyed fishing and watching Nascar and John Wayne. He was a fan of Notre Dame football and the Chicago Cubs. He was a handy craftsman and a member of QC Sportsman Club.
Survivors include his daughter, Ashley (Tyler Horberg) Owens, Cambridge, IL; mother, Nancy Owens; sisters, Theresa (Chris) Lemon, Coal Valley, IL, and Tracy (Steve) Weinberger, Moline, IL; brothers, Todd (Pam) Owens, Plainfield, IL, and Jack (Diane) Owens, Orion, IL; 9 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and both maternal and paternal grandparents.
