Gregory F. VanHyfte, 80, of Moline, IL, died Friday, June 13, 2014, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, IL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3205 60th Street, Moline, IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park where military honors will be conducted by Moline American Legion Post 246. Memorials may be made to Christ the King Catholic Church.
Gregory was born on November 6, 1933, in Rock Island, IL, the son of Gaston and Clara (McCulloch) VanHyfte. He married Jeanne M. Ditmon on July 11, 1964, in Davenport, IA. Gregory proudly served in the United States Navy as a Seabee. He owned and operated Van's Automotive Services from 1960 - 2003. He was also an A.S.E. Certified Master Auto Technician.
Gregory was an avid woodworker and antique wooden boat enthusiast.
