Surrounded by his loving family, Haldean Holley, 72, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, at his home in Colona, Illinois, after a courageous battle with cancer. He now rests in the arms of our Lord and suffers no more.
He was born to Joseph and Ruby Holley on 9/18/39 in Metropolis, IL. He relocated to Colona, in 1971, where he lived for 40 years. In 1961 he married Nancy Arlene Lamb, and recently celebrated 50 years of marriage on December 28th.
He worked as a concrete finisher, first for Green River Homes, then formed H & C Concrete with partner Peter D. Cuoco. In June of 1987, he partnered with Gene Engler to form Custom Concrete, retiring, due to health issues, in 2008. Dean will always be remembered for his dedication and long hours to provide quality workmanship. He had a creative ability with concrete design and worked hard to provide for all his family.
Dean was an avid fan of race cars, especially Nascar. He had a passion for classic cars, and would proudly describe himself as a Mopar Man.
He was preceded in death by his parents and Grandparents. He leaves behind his wife Nancy, of Colona, Illinois, Daughter Sandra Andon (James) Silvis, IL, Daughter Diane Reed (Eric), South English, Iowa.
Grandchildren, Brandon Holley (Kathleen) Colona, IL , Jason Hollenbeck, Colona, IL, Sarah Hollenbeck, Silvis, Brady Stewart, Holley Dara Stewart, & Kadie Reed, all of South English, IA. Great Grandchildren, Shelby Holley, Jillian Holley, Jacob Holley, and Caleb Hollenbeck. One sister, Lois Nickolson, of Cookeville, TN. And numerous cousins in the Metropolis, Crown Point, and Quad Cities area. .He looks forward to seeing his loved ones again and waiting on the ones yet to go on their journey.
Services will be held at Calvary Church of the Quad Cities, 4700 53rd Street, Moline, IL, on Monday, February 27th at 10:30 a.m., Pastor Tim Bowman officiating. Entombment will take place at Greenview, Memorial Gardens, East Moline, IL. Visitation will be Sunday, 2:00 to 4:00pm. at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline.
