Helen F. Kiehr, 97, formerly of Moline, a resident of Park Vista Assisted Living, East Moline, went to meet her Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 29, 2015, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa with her family by her side.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 1st from 4-7 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. A celebration of her life and funeral will be at Calvary Lutheran Church, 2900 Avenue of the Cities, Moline on Wednesday, September 2nd at 10:30 am. Memorials may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church.
Helen was born on January 16, 1918 at home on Turkey Hollow Road in Taylor Ridge, IL, the daughter of Edward & Katherine Kreplin Huber. She attended Andalusia Grade School up to the 8th grade when she had to quit school to help her father on the farm. During World War II, she volunteered as a nurse's aide for the American Red Cross. She worked for Royal Neighbors of America and Eagle Signal. She then chose to stay at home to take care of her husband and two daughters. Later in life, she worked for Flowerland Florist.
She married Arthur H. Kiehr on October 12, 1946. He preceded her in death on May 30, 1982
Helen was a member of the National Audubon Society and the JFF (Just for Fun card club). She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Moline for 80 years where she served on the Altar Guild, helped with Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and was a member of WELCA and the Happy Hookers (sewing group). She was also a Girl Scout leader for her daughters. She and her husband traveled to all 50 states. She enjoyed cooking for her family, sewing, craft projects, camping with family and friends. She had a special place in her heart for birds and animals. Her priorities were her Christian faith and her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and an infant grandson, David and her beloved sister and brother Ruth Parpart and Vern Huber.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Ahmad Okba, the staff at Park Vista, the staff at Genesis (Illini Campus) and the staff at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
Helen was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be dearly missed but heaven is rejoicing.
