Helen Nordquist

Helen D. Nordquist, 91, of East Moline, formerly of Coal Valley, IL, died Wednesday, September 02, 2015, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 5, 2015, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, September 4, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rock Island Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association.

Helen was born on August 18, 1924, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Elmer and Mabel Schumacher. She married James P. Nordquist on December 26, 1944, in Pensacola, FL, and he preceded her in death in August of 1993.

Helen was a member of First Congregational Church in Moline. She was also a member of King's Daughters and Short Hills Country Club. Helen had a passion for gardening.

Survivors include her daughters, Kathy (Jerry) Allen, Morton, IL, and Karen (Ron) Leemans, Coal Valley, IL; son, Steven (Debbie) Nordquist, Colona, IL; 5 grandchildren, Melissa (Brendan) Barrette, Warsaw, IN, Matthew (Chelsea) Allen, Johnstown, CO, Alicia Allen (fiancé, Mark Maloy), Springfield, IL, Joshua (Ashley) Catour, Brimfield, IL, and Amy (Rich) Hendricks, Bettendorf, IA; 6 great grandchildren; brother, Elmer "Sparky" Schumacher, New Port Richey, FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Robert.
