Henry Donis

Henry E. Donis, 81, of Moline, IL, died Monday, December 15, 2014, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA.

A family directed memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2014, at Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church, 1201 13th Street, Moline. Military honors will be conducted by the Moline American Legion Post 246. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church, where he was a member, or to the American Cancer Society. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Henry was born on April 9, 1933, in Moline, IL, the son of August J. and Irma E. Popelier Donis. He married Linda M. Jamison on June 4, 1960, in East Moline. He was a veteran, having proudly served the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a fork lift operator for John Deere Harvester in East Moline for 36 years, retiring in 1999.

Henry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Henry enjoyed fishing, hunting, and making wooden toys.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Gerald Schmidt; sister-in-law, Bronzella Sandberg; brothers-in-law, Willard Peterson, Dale Sandberg, Robert Jamison, and Jan Jamison.
