Irene Gardner Anderson

Beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, J. Irene Gardner-Anderson of East Moline, IL, was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on Sunday, February 2, 2014. Irene will always be remembered for her love of the Lord and her dedication to her family.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2014, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hampton Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Irene was born on November 29, 1939 in East Moline, IL, the daughter of William and Lottie Mae (Rush) Bell. She graduated from United Township High School in East Moline, IL in 1957. She received her Diploma in Nursing from Lutheran Hospital School For Nurses in Moline, IL in 1970. She served as the school nurse for East Moline School District for 30 years until her retirement. Irene served God faithfully as past Minister of Music for several area churches including Mount Zion Baptist Church, Olivet Baptist Church and People's Missionary Baptist Church. As an accomplished Gospel musician, she also taught voice and piano lessons for many years in service to the Lord.

She deeply cherished her children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousin and dear friends. She had a very special relationship with her grandsons, A.J., Anthony and Justin, with whom she affectionately referred to as "Grandma's Boy's". She will be dearly missed by all.

Survivors include children, La Rona (Rob) Schneider, Coal Valley, Stephanie Gardner, Moline, Gina (Victor) Allen, Davenport, Ronald Gardner, Bloomington, Ill.; grandkids, A.J., Anthony, Justin, Austin, Ryann, C'yana, and D'yanta; siblings, William "Bill" (Gail) Bell, El Sobrante, Calif., La June Anderson, Moline, Donald Bell, Kewanee, Ill., Bette Jo "Kiki" (Ian) Stones, San Clemente, Calif., Geraldine "Deeni" Bell, Altadena, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
