Irving Rivera, 85, of Orion, passed away June 21, 2025, at his home.
Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Saturday June 28, 2025, at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 220 E 22nd Ave, Coal Valley, IL. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday June 27, 2025, at the church. Cremation will take place following the services and inurnment will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Midwest Affiliate.
Irving was born on January 28, 1940, in Yauco, Puerto Rico, the son of Rosario and Rudesinda (Caraballo) Rivera. He married Rosamaria Glaser on March 4, 1962.
Irving was a U.S. Veteran, having served in the Army and was a Bronze Star Recipient. He had been employed in logistics for the U.S. Government, retiring in 1997. Irving enjoyed gardening, traveling, and was a member of the German American Family Club and Mary Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.
Survivors include his children, Ramona (Larry) Cuppy, Michael (Michele) Rivera, Mark (Donna) Rivera, Manuela Rivera, Claudia (Mark) Gremillion, Christopher (Samantha) Rivera; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Maria Rivera.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosamaria.
