Jackie Shattuck, 85, of Coal Valley, passed away June 1, 2025, at her home with her family by her side.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday June 6, 2025, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Private family graveside services will take place at Glennwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Colona Public Library or the Henry County Fair Association.
Jackie was born on September 29, 1939, in Moline, the daughter of John and Bertha M. (Miller) Rugh. She married Lon E. Shattuck on November 29, 1958, in Coal Valley. He preceded her in death on December 1, 2022. Jackie had worked at the Colona Public Library as the children’s librarian and library director. She was also a devoted farm wife, always ready to help her husband, Lon especially with cattle. Jackie also liked to be outdoors splitting wood. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Moline and was an avid church goer. She loved to make rugs, garden, sew, and help others whenever she could. Jackie was a loving caregiver, storyteller, and was known for her delicious cinnamon rolls. She liked going to lunch with her friends from nurses training. Above all, she cherished her time with her grandsons.
Survivors include her children, Tara (Rick) Taube, Coal Valley, Lon R. Shattuck, Coal Valley, Troy (Julie) Shattuck, Coal Valley; grandchildren, Jesse Shattuck (Skye Berger), Coal Valley, Dr. Sawyer Shattuck (Carley Travis), Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Richard (Carrol) Rugh, sister Mary Lou (Ralph) Kuhn, and her dear friend Pat Blondell.
