James W. Hogan, of Rock Island, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday April 24, 2026, at the Reynolds Cemetery in Reynolds, IL. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline is assisting the family.

Jim was born on June 28, 1934, in Moline, the son of Howard and Inga (LaRue) Hogan. He was a proud member of Rock Island High School, class of 1952. He attended Augustana College and later graduating from St. Ambrose College in 1957.

In June of 1959, Jim entered the Army. Upon his discharge he went back to Ft. Leonard Wood to work for the Army Air Defense. Due to his mother’s illness, he came back to Rock Island to help care for her. He then went to work for Army Weapons Command on the Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in 1988.

Jim was an avid Chicago White Sox fan, never missing a game. He liked to watch just about all sports on tv.

Jim had many friends that he made over the years. He had neighbors and their children that have always been close to him. He also belonged to a birthday club that he enjoyed and has remained very close to.

Jim is survived by his cousins, David Kahn, who has been by his side faithfully, Sandra Ferguson, Maxine McDonald, Susan Cameron, and Jim Cope and his companion Mandy, who has been by his side and on his lap for many years.

The family sincerely thanks Friendship Manor for their care and support.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Richard and William Hogan.
