James "Jim" Semonis

James Semonis, 92, of Orion, IL, passed away on August 30, 2026, at Celebrate Senior Living.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday September 2, 2026, at Esterdahl Funeral Home, 1301 4th Street, Orion. Burial will be at the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Macomb, IL.

James was born on Demcember 1, 1933, in Macomb, Illinois, the son of James T. and Irene (Landrith) Semonis. He was a U.S. Veteran, having served in the Army. He married Betty Mae McClure on December 24, 1953, in Gallup, New Mexico. She preceded him in death on October 13, 2002.

Jim had previously been employed in machine repair for IH Farmall, retiring after 24 years. He was also involved with the Sherrard Fire Department and the Sherrard Police. Jim had a passion for repairing and restoring automobiles. He restored numerous trucks including a 1948 and 1950 Chevy truck. His favorite was the 1946 Model Chevrolet Pickup and a 1946 Chevy 2-ton he used to move people to Indiana, Kentucky and California.

Survivors include his sons, Ron (Sandy) Semonis; Don Semonis, Ken (Sheri) Semonis; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, mother and brother, Robert.
