James "Jim" M. Smith, 64, of Milan, IL, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2015 at UnityPoint Health - Trinity, Rock Island Campus.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, August 30, 2015, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be made to the family.
James was born on January 1, 1951, in Centerville, IA, the son of Gilbert and Betty O'Toole Smith. He worked as a car salesman for various dealerships. Prior to that, he worked for Oscar Mayer for 13 years.
James enjoyed fishing and working on cars. He also loved to cook. James was a member of the Rock Island Moose Lodge.
Survivors include his soulmate, Wendy Brown; mother, Betty Smith; sister, Connie (Jay) Barnett; children, Velvet Eggert, James Moyer, and Vanetta Schroeder; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and 1 on the way; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
