James H. Stickel

James H. Stickel, 89, of Moline, passed away Saturday June 17, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday June 27, 2023, at the Rock Island National Cemetery and military honors will be conducted. Those wishing to attend should meet at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline at 12:30 p.m. for the procession to the cemetery.

James was born on March 6, 1934, in Moline, the son of Charles and Anna E. (Carson) Stickel. He was previously employed as a machine operator at K.I. Willis in Milan. He loved watching Moline Maroons sporting events and was an avid Cubs, Bears and Fighting Illini fan. He loved animals, especially dogs and being with his family.

Left to cherish his memory are nieces and nephews, Robert (Theresa) Connell, Roxanne (Gary) Dierolf, Allan (Karen) Connell, Candace (Steve) Collis, Randy (Helen) Barnes, Patricia (Arnold) Malmstrom, Jimmy Buchman; great niece, Laurie Fox; great nephew, David Reger; great great nephew, Jason Duncan; the Allison family, Vicki, Bill, Christie, Sandy and Mike; great great nieces and nephews; and great great great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Robert Stickel, Franny Stickel, Pheobe Allison, Barbara Brown and Mary Jo Connell; niece, Valerie Fuesseland; and 2 nephews, Jeffrey and Donald Connell.
