James E. Versluis, 86, of East Moline, IL, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Silvis Center.
Funeral Mass services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Christ the King Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the church. Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday at the church. Private Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Moline. Memorials may be made to Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline.
James was born on July 7, 1940, in Moline, IL, the son of Paul M. and Edna (Hart) Versluis. He was joined in marriage to Patricia “Pat” A. Clauw at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, East Moline on September 26, 1959.
Jim started when he was young working at his father’s lumber yard. Jim also succeeded his father on the original Board of Directors of WQAD TV. He was involved in the Food and Beverage Industry for many years, owning multiple businesses. Jim ended up retiring from the heating & air conditioning business. He was also Big Foot Barney on the Jungle J Show.
He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Jim loved to work in his yard and always kept it immaculate. He liked his cars and any new technology that came along. He was an animal lover and loved his little dogs Rambo and Nikki. Jim also loved spending his vacation time in Florida.
Survivors include his high school sweetheart and wife of 66 years, Patricia; children, Lori Larson of East Moline, IL, Michael (Vickye) Versluis of Silvis, IL; grandchildren, Andy Mann of De Pere, WI, and Kelli Mann of Two Rivers, WI; great-grandchildren, Maddisyn and Kaiser Wohlgemuth; sisters and brother-in-law, Sandy (Bill) Verlinden of Silvis, IL, and Mary Ann Gant of East Moline, IL; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Joe and Shirley Clauw; sister, Martha Lamb; daughter-in-law, Suzanne Versluis; sisters and brothers-in-law Mike Gant, Ron Lamb, JoAnn and Jerry Buyck; nephew, Darryn Lamb.
The family would like to thank the staff at Silvis Center in Silvis for their care and patience during these times.
