James "Jim" P. Bush

James “Jim” P. Bush, 89, formerly of Coal Valley, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023, at New Perspective Senior Living, Silvis.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 17, 2023, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan.  Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Thursday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline.  Burial will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #246.  Memorials may be made to St. Ambrose Catholic Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Jim was born on March 21, 1933, in Rock Island, the son of Peter and Helen (Ihrig) Bush. He graduated from Alleman High School, class of 1951. He was a U.S. Veteran, having served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Jim married Shirley J. Kimbel on September 20, 1952, at the former St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rock Island. He was previously employed as a computer programmer at Modern Woodmen of America, Rock Island, retiring in 1995 after almost 40 years. Jim enjoyed tending to his yard, fishing, reading and camping with his family and friends. He loved nothing more than being with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and was proud of each and every one of them.

Survivors include his children, Ron Bush, Raleigh, NC, Randy (Cindy) Bush, East Moline, Diana (Steve) Slininger, Carbon Cliff; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack & Marlene Kimbel; sisters-in-law, Gini Kimbel, Joan Bush; numerous nieces and nephews; and a large loving extended family.

He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 70 years, Shirley; siblings, Jack, Jean, Ron, Dan, and twin brother, Joe.
