James "Jim" Donald Welborn

James “Jim” Donald Welborn, 69, of Orion, IL, died Friday, April 21, 2017, at home.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., Orion. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, April 24, 2017, at the funeral home. Cremation rites will follow visitation and inurnment will be at the National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal following the memorial service. Memorials may be made to the Orion VFW.
Jim was born on October 31, 1947, in Moline, IL, the son of Donald and Ardis Oakland Welborn. He graduated from Orion High School in the Class of 1965. Jim was a veteran, having proudly served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1969. He married Diane Vickroy on June 21, 1975, at Beulah Presbyterian Church.
Jim shared ownership of Parrish Feed Service from 1972 to 1982, which later became J&W Feed Service in Osco from 1982 to 2003. He enjoyed golf and was a member of Valley View in Cambridge since 1975. Jim was an Iowa Hawkeyes fan and especially loved to spend time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Welborn; children, Azure (Steve) Thill, Geneva, IL, and Aaron (Kristen) Welborn, Orion, IL; grandchildren, Hannah, Tyler, Aly, and Madi; siblings, Gerry (Janet) Welborn, Orion, IL, and Sue (Bill) Stropes, Orion, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
