Jane McNeal

Helen “Jane” McNeal, 96 of Rock Island passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at her son’s home.

A graveside service will be 11:30 a.m. Friday July 14, 2023, at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline.  Visitation will be from 10 -11 a.m. Friday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. Moline.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Jane was born on February 27, 1927, in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of George and Helen (Shearer) Hawkins.  She married Willard “Gene” McNeal on April 23, 1944, in Rock Island and he preceded her in death in 1989. She was previously employed at the office of Dr. Boysen and later at Altorfer Machinery, Davenport She retired from Bi-State Crane. She attended United Trinity Methodist Church, Milan.

Jane enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading.  She was involved in racing but above all was her love for her family.

Jane is survived by her sons, Mike (Mary Ann) McNeal of Sperry, Oklahoma and Denny (Linda) McNeal of Rock Island; 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 4 step great grandchildren; 4 step great great grandchildren; sister, Rebecca Moseley of Lakewood, Colorado.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Paul “Pat” McNeal and a brother, Thomas Hawkins.
