Janet Louise Vrstal, 74, of East Moline, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017, at Genesis Medical Center, Silvis.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2017, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2017, at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to a charity of your choice.
Janet was born on December 24, 1942, in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Charles and Letha Upham Unangst. She married Jack Joseph Vrstal on June 18, 1966, in Rockford, IL. She received her master’s in education and worked for the Moline School District #40, retiring in 2000 after 36 years. Following her retirement, she would also tutor students.
Janet enjoyed musicals and watching plays. She also enjoyed attending Mallards, Illini, and Cubs games. Janet liked to play Bunco and attend card club. She loved traveling the world, especially the USA. Also, Janet loved quilting and enjoyed the company of her wonderful family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Vrstal; brother, Tom (Kathy) Unangst; brother-in-law, Rick (Sharon) Vrstal; sister-in-law, Kathy (Dan) McKean; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
