Janice M. Anderson, 86, of Lynn Center, IL, died Sunday, September 21, 2014, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 27, 2014, at Grace Lutheran Church, 115 Main Street, Ophiem, IL. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, September 26, 2014, at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., 1301 4th Street, Orion, IL. Burial will be at Western Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church.
Janice was born on December 11, 1927, in Prophetstown, IL, the daughter of Otto and Minnie Crosell Munson.
In 1944 she graduated from Tampico High School. After graduating from Illinois State University in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education, Janice worked as a commercial (bookkeeping, typing, and short hand) teacher till 1951 for Orion School District. She taught at the former Sheffield High School from 1953-1955. Janice married Richard H. Anderson on June 18, 1955, in Prophetstown, IL, and he preceded her in death on June 9, 2005. Together, they farmed in the Ophiem and Lynn Center areas. After raising her family, she returned to teaching in 1969 and taught 3rd grade at Alwood Elementary School. She retired in 1988.
Janice was a very active member at Grace Lutheran Church in Ophiem. She was the president of WELCA and a former church council member and Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of the Ophiem American Legion Auxiliary. Janice and Richard enjoyed traveling in their motor home. In her later years, she loved spending time with her family, most especially, her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, Doris Munson, Florence Fanning, Violet Long, Perry Munson, Jewel Renner, Otto G. Munson; infant brother, George William Munson; and first husband, Robert Bealer, of Sterling, IL, whom she married in April of 1951, and he preceded her in death in November of 1952.
