She was born on October 5, 1942, in Moline, IL, to Carl F. and Helen (Cobert) Richmiller. She was a 1960 graduate of Moline High School. Janie married Ronald G. Dennhardt on August 17, 1963, at St. Mary's Church in Moline, Illinois.
She went to work for 5th Avenue Tailor Shop as a part-time bookkeeper in 1975 and in a short time, transformed the business model into selling uniforms. Now responsible for more than just books, she purchased and re-named the store Uniform Den in 1979 with partners Sam Gnatovich and Ron Stays. Buying out both partners, Janie used her exceptional skills to grow her company into a pillar in the industry. She continued her success for many years and in 1990 purchased Sam Harris Uniforms in Peoria, Illinois and finally opened Uniform Den East in Loves Park, IL, in 2006. She was not only a pioneer woman business owner, she was one of the only women in the entire retail uniform industry in the country. She was President of the National Uniform Dealers Association and USA Buying group amongst many other leadership positions throughout the industry during her career. She was an integral part of daily business until her diagnosis in March of this year.
As a devoted Catholic, she was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Moline, where she was also a member of the Alter and Rosary Society. She loved to travel, shop, and spoil all that knew her with love and gracious gifts.
