Jean Carter, 87, of Milan, IL, died Friday, April 04, 2014, at Amber Ridge Memory Care, Moline, IL.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Esterdahl Mortuary& Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Mt. Etna Cemetery, Franklin County, rural Thompsonville, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Church of the Quad Cities.

Jean was born on August 7, 1926, in Franklin County, Thompsonville, IL, the daughter of Earl and Dolly (Galbraith) Schwabe. She married John Carter on August 3, 1945 in Benton, IL.

Jean worked as a sales clerk for The LaRose Shoppe and the New York Store in Moline. She was a former member of Moline Gospel Temple, and secretary for the senior high department of Moline Gospel Temple. Jean was a charter member of Calvary Church of the Quad Cities. She loved flowers and gardening. Jean loved her family, children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Wanda Schwabe and Sada Schwabe.
