Jeanette Elsie Eastman

Jeanette Elsie Eastman, 87, of Moline, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at her home, surrounded by family.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Friday, December 16, 2022, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, with additional visitation one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, December 19, 2022, at Elmwood Cemetery, De Witt, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the church or any animal shelter.

Jeanette was born on March 19, 1935, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Elsie (Kuehl) Soenksen. She married John Edward Eastman on October 13, 1957, at Grace Lutheran Church in DeWitt, Iowa. He preceded her in death on March 30, 2022. She was previously employed as a registered nurse and enjoyed every minute of it. She worked at Dr. Errico’s and Dr. Murrell’s office, Illini Occupational Health, the City of Moline, she occasionally worked at Dr. Flower’s office with her two daughters when needed. She had worked at the John Deere Administrative Center, John Deere Foundry and Harvester., and Red Jacket Pump. Jeanette was an active and longtime member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, youth group leader, sang in the choir and parish nurse. She was a talented organ and piano player and enjoyed listening to Elvis Gospel music. She enjoyed The Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in Minnesota and made teddy bears for many loved ones over the years. Jeanette took great care in the needs of others. She loved spending time with her family, friends, and was incredibly close to her siblings. She had a great love for animals, both indoors and out, and especially her cat, Cozy.

Survivors include her daughters, Jeanne Eastman, Moline, Jill (Wayne) Eastman-Foss, Moline; brother, Milo (Norma) Soenksen, DeWitt; sister, JoAnn (Dale) Greve, DeWitt; sisters-in-law, Ann (Floyd) Soenksen, Judy (Lynn) Soenksen, Rosella (Joe) Eastman; many loving nieces and nephews including Becky Gardner, Apache Junction, AZ, Joe Eastman, East Moline; and was a godmother to many.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Ruth Soenksen; brothers, Dick, Floyd, Lynn Soenksen.
