Jeffrey Lynn Mack, 62, Moline, went peacefully to his eternal rest on Thursday, December 13, 2012 surrounded by his family in Orlando, Florida after a courageous battle with cancer.
A funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 21, 2012 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 9:00 until service time at the funeral home with a Masonic Service at 9:00. Interment will be at the National Cemetery on the Rock Island Arsenal where military rites will be accorded by the Moline American Legion Post #246. Jeff was born January 11, 1950, in Hannibal Missouri, the son of Kenneth R. and Norma (Craven) Mack. On July 31, 1971 he married the former Barbara Fifer.
Jeff served in the U.S. Air Force from 1969 to 1973. He spent 36 years as a welder and tool and die maker, and retired from the Rock Island Arsenal in 2011.
Jeff enjoyed his early years as a Chief in the YMCA Indian Guides Program. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge 1014 A.F. & A.M. Moline. He also enjoyed spending his time camping, playing guitar, and watching UCF Football and NASCAR. Jeff also liked to share his love of astronomy.
Survivors include Barbara, his wife of 41 years; his children: Justin (Erin) Mack, Orlando, Florida, Shawn (Tiffany) Mack, Moline, Illinois; two grandchildren: Kiley and Avery; brothers: Dale Mack, Moline, Illinois, Daniel (Anna) Mack, Muscatine, Iowa, and James (Marie) Mack, Moline, Illinois; step mother in law: Wendy Fifer, Bettendorf, Iowa; brothers-in-law: Rick (Sharon) Fifer, John (Kay) Fifer, Chad (Heather) Fifer; and sisters-in-law: Sue (James) Bermel, and Julie (Joel) Bacorn. He is further survived by a niece, nephews, cousins and their families, other relatives, and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and mother in law and father in law Winifred and Richard Fifer.
