Jeffrey E. Seidel, 61, of Coal Valley, IL, died after a long and courageous battle with prostate cancer on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at First Covenant Church, 3303 41st Street, Moline. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2014, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to First Covenant Church or to Moody Bible Institute.
Jeffrey was born on March 29, 1952, in Moline, IL, the son of Edward and Virginia Maxine (Erickson) Seidel. He married Pam Earhart on August 30, 1990, in Moline. Jeffrey graduated from Rock Island High School in 1970 and later from Augustana College in 1974.
Jeffrey worked for Deere & Co. retiring after 35 and a half years on September 30, 2009. He felt that his work wasn't quite finished and immediately returned as a consultant, a position he held until his death.
Jeffrey deeply loved His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and was an active life member of First Covenant Church in Moline. There he was a Sunday school teacher for over 43 years and actively served on various boards and other church activities. He was a lifelong Cub fan and loved fishing, especially in Walker, MN. Jeffrey was an avid book collector and reader as well. More than anything, he truly loved spending time and sharing memories with his family and friends.
