Jerald L. “Jerry” Pearson, 87, of Moline, passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at UnityPoint Trinity, Rock Island.
Cremation rites have been accorded. His wishes were for his body to be donated to science, but sadly due to Covid, that was not possible. There will be a celebration of life at Parkside Bar & Grill in Moline on Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 2-4 p.m.. Memorials may be made to Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan, Illinois.
Jerry was born on April 17, 1934, in Moline, the son of Ernest and Lydia (Rosene) Pearson. He was a U.S. Veteran, having served two years with the Army stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. He then attended the Chicago Institute of Art. Jerry was previously employed at the Rock Island Arsenal working as an illustrator for Weapons Command, retiring after 32 years.
Jerry enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews doing things together like hiking, biking, swimming boating and canoeing at Lake Geneva in Wisconsin. He enjoyed camping in the boundary waters, yachting and simply hanging out during the summers. He enjoyed many cookouts and spending time with his friends at his “Bosky Dell” cabin on Campbells Island. In the winter, Jerry spent his time at home building outdoor chairs, tables, bird feeders and bird houses, among other things. Jerry loved traveling to the Caribbean, Bermuda, Hawaii, Mexico, and all throughout the United States. He will be dearly missed by his family and cat, Pooky.
Survivors include siblings, Edward Pearson, Moline, Carol Hess, Aledo, and Diane (Jerry) Tyler, Rock Island; and 4 nieces and 5 nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Dale, brother-in-law, Edwin Hess, and nephew, Stephen Hess.
Jerry enjoyed a great life with his nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Memories may be shared on the tribute wall.
