Joel C. Earnest, 73, of Moline, IL, died Sunday, June 18, 2017, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, IL.
Private family services were held and military honors were conducted. Memorials may be made to his family for a fund to be established. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Joel was born on October 14, 1943, in Hamilton, AL, the third of the six children of Howard and Vera Lee Knight Earnest. He married Marianne Bader on August 21, 1964, in Georgia. In 1995, he retired from John Deere in Moline after 32 years. He also worked for the Bettendorf school system.
Joel was a veteran, having proudly served in the United States Army. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Jesus Lighthouse Church. Joel was a member of UAW and the NRA.
Joel was deeply loved by his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Marianne Earnest; son, Joel C. Earnest, Jr., Moline, IL; granddaughters, Robyn Earnest, Moline, IL, and Emily Earnest, Moline, IL.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Earnest; son, Jimmy Earnest; parents; and younger brother.
