John A. Bernard, 81, of Geneseo, IL, formerly of Moline, IL, died Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo, IL.
Per his wishes cremation rites have been accorded and the family will hold private services at a later date. Memorials may be made to Hillcrest Home in Geneseo. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.
John was born on September 18, 1932, in Moline, IL, the son of George and Hazel (Weaver) Bernard. He married Sharon L. Ellstrom on June 21, 1951, in Pocahontas, AR, and she preceded him in death on March 12, 2008.
John owned and ran the Poplar Grove Inn Restaurant and the Q.C. Gas Light & Grill for many years. Prior to that, he and his sister, Suzie, were a professional dance team traveling throughout the United States. John often shot trap and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
