John H. Peterson

John H. Peterson, 81, of Moline, passed away on August 17, 2026.

Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday August 23, 2026, Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Private burial will be in Moline Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to your local animal shelter or a charity of your choice in John’s name. Friends are urged to drive their classic cars to the visitation.

John was born on February 15, 1945, in Moline, the son of Lester B. and Mildred J. (Johnson) Peterson. His father passed away in 1952, and his mother later married Charles G. Ind in 1960, and together they raised John. He married Wanda M. Anderson on June 11, 1980, in Moline. She preceded him in death on March 31, 2017. In 1970, he founded John Peterson Trucking in Moline and was currently operating the company until his last day. He was an avid enthusiast of classic cars and could find him on the weekends at various car shows. He cherished his Chrysler Super Stock and AFX hemi cars. He loved his many poodles through the years, especially his two at home, Rusty and Ruby.

Survivors include his children, Jeff (Angie) Peterson, Jodi (Donovan) Altenhofen, Kevin Guerrero, Stephanie Guerrero; two grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and best friend and right-hand-man, Allen Parr.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda and brother, Jerry Peterson.
