John L. Herberg

John L. Herberg, 89, of Orion, IL, passed away November 20, 2025, at UnityPoint Health Trinity Rock Island.

Memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday November 28, 2025, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. prior to the service. Cremation rites have been accorded.

John was born on November 1, 1936, in Moline, the son of Stanley and Esther (Sandberg) Herberg. He married Merrilene Frost on August 31, 1956, in Rock Island. John had worked as an assembler for Kartridg Pac. He also owned and operated Moline Boat & Motor with his son Bob. He was a member of the Moline Conservation Club, Antique Outboard Motor Club, and was confirmed at First Covenant Church in Moline. John had a passion for antique outboard motors, antique boats, and enjoyed boat racing.

Survivors include his wife, Merrilene; son, Bob (Angela) Herberg; daughter, Brenda (Mark) Emmendorfer; grandchildren, Nick, Cherrie, Jennifer and Dawn; and 6 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sally.
